A very fine wedding catering experience!

Selected Caiger and Co. Canapés

It's that time of year when it's all about eating and drinking. Possibly not the best time of year to writing a blog post about yet more food but, when the food is this good it is worth writing about! Last month, luxury wedding and event caterers, Caiger and Co. invited me to their new premises to showcase some of their food. I'm lucky that my job sees me invited to try the food of some wonderful caterers. It's always really yummy, but this, this took the biscuit (excuse the pun).

Caiger and Co. Catering specialise in bespoke catering for weddings and events. I first met Alix a few weeks ago, near where she lives in South West London. We had a connect immediately in that, although we both now live and operate our businesses out of London, we were both born and bred in Dorset - we both also really love amazing food. Alix is Head Chef and Owner at Caiger and Co. Over a coffee we chatted all things wedding, food and business and Alix invited me to come and try some of the food.

Cod Carpaccio

Salmon

So, on a dreary day in November I found myself throughly cheered up by a tasting and lovely meeting with the rest of the team. There ensued a three course (with two options per course - of which I tried both, of course) meal of my dreams and a good chin wag with Millie (who also grew up in Dorset - turns out we went to the same school, although a few years apart). What I loved about Caiger and Co. was the innovative food ideas and amazing flavours and also their approach, which is working with clients to tailor a completely bespoke menu - no set or seasonal menus options to choose from here. They also have a huge passion for the sourcing of their ingredients, and it shows in the taste.

Purple Potatoes and Winter Salad

Figs

The pear salad starter I had isn't something I would typically pick from a menu but, having tried it, I'd pick it again and again - with pecans and dates and topped with a scattering of granola it was the perfect blend of savoury with a hint of sweet. I had the choice of two fish mains - a hake and salmon, both cooked and flavoured to utter perfection. The winter salad with hint of tahini and miso dressing was a particular favourite. In fact, not only did the food taste delicious, it looked amazing also - proof in this post from the images snapped on my iPhone.

Happy Silly Season Everyone! x
