I love finding new wedding venues and was particularly excited to discover this one right on my doorstep in Twickenham. The Secret River Garden is a wild riverside lawn and woodland right on the banks of the Thames in Twickenham. If you didn't know about it you would never know it existed, its tucked away and feels really private, a little slice of country only a few miles from central London.
Misha is the lovely lady behind this very unique wedding venue, which has a long family history. Although not licensed for civil ceremonies it is perfectly located right across from Orleans House Gallery which can hold up to 60 guests for a marriage ceremony. The other really appealing thing about the Secret River Garden is the freedom to create the wedding reception that you would like without restriction. There is no set list of suppliers you must use, corkage fees or specific way you must do things, in certain respects it is a black canvas. Mischa has however, made links with Beautiful World Tents who are on hand to help by providing lovely tipis as well as The Little Top who specialise in pop up party tents for children at weddings. and if the idea of a black canvas appeals to you but leaves you feeling slightly overwhelmed , you could always consider the use of a wedding planner to help you.
