CLASSIC ELEGANCE, G&B'S LUXURY PALACE WEDDING

Luxury Wedding Ceremony

I've neglected my journal posts lately, I am guilty of prioritising the busy wedding season whilst trying to still enjoy the summer in my "spare" time! But, as the days get shorter (and much colder), I am slowing down on the wedding event side of the business and turing my attention to next's year's planning and reflecting on what a summer it has been. Today I am going to begin with sharing a few behind the scenes images of what was an incredible wedding last weekend.

THE COUPLE

I started planning Geraldine and Bill's wedding at about this time last year. The couple (Geraldine from Hong Kong and Bill, a born and bred Aussie) are based in Hong Kong. Whilst they currently live there, both of Geraldine's parents went to university in the UK and Geraldine spent a large portion of her childhood growing up here. They had already booked their venue, a historical palace just outside of London and wanted help in planning, designing and bringing to life their wedding celebrations.

THE DESIGN

A historic palace, the venue had lots of in keeping features: beautiful ivory damask wallpaper; a grand marble fireplace; high ceilings, lots of dark wood. I took inspiration from these details but also knew that the venue needed "lifting" - the Great Hall (where the ceremony and the dining were due to take place) contained a lot of dark wood panelling and, with a strict no candle policy, I was conscious of need for the colour scheme and the florals to do a lot of the work. Geraldine had a clear idea of the direction of the style she was looking for and, between us, the colour scheme was decided - lots of cream, whites, soft apricot and peaches, all pulled together with gold. She also wanted wow with the flowers and, with Wildabout as chosen supplier to put together the floral vision, I knew we were going to deliver something epic! Combined with other stunning details: a 6 tier cake designed and created by the artist that is Krishanthi; ivory damask luxury linen from Just4Linen; gold backed art deco chairs and elegant gold rimmed glassware and tableware by Classic Crockery and stationery designed by Nats Paper Studio - the results were better than I had hoped to imagine!

THE CHALLENGE

Putting together a wedding of quite so grand proportions did not come without its challenges. The largest of which was transforming a ceremony room into a dining room, complete with a 30ft suspended floral canopy of flowers, all within an hour. Yes 1 hour. None of this would have been possible without the most incredible supplier team. Wildabout, you were incredible, as were catering dream team, Caiger and Co.
